Hi, Tallulah Von Tassel here, just a little bit about me and how
Burlesque Chair Dance™ has changed my life.
I had never danced before in my life, so when an old friend asked me to go
with her to a burlesque class I thought she was having a laugh. I went to
my first class thinking this isn’t going to be for me (I WAS the biggest
prude going) I needed to exercise, and the gym was a no go (to be honest the
gym bored me). I really didn’t think this would be me, but I’ll try anything
once (OMG how wrong was I, I was hooked from the start!).
When walking into that first class to say I was nervous is an understatement. I was a size 22 back then and thought I’d be laughed out of the room, I was greeted by a lovely lady called Sarah, aka Lulu Estrella (who by the way has the patience of a saint), I had 2 left feet and nothing sexy about me or, so I thought. All the ladies in the class where amazing and welcomed me with no judgement on my size (which has always been a big thing for me and affected my confidence, basically I didn’t have any). If I found something difficult Sarah would help me to improve so I could do it.
After leaving that first class I was on such a high I felt like I could do
anything. Each week as Monday approached I’d get so excited because I knew
I could go strut my stuff and no one was judging me. The weight started to
Due to personal reasons I had to stop attending class after about 6 months,
but missed it terribly. So, when I got myself sorted I went back to where
the class had been held to find it had gone, not giving up I searched on
Facebook and found the new venue and just turned up to class the following
Monday. Sarah was there to welcome me back to a new group of girls (it was
like I hadn’t been away for that year and I became a regular at class, I
had moved town by this time and drove 25 miles every week for class).
Dancing every week with these amazing ladies made me realise I wanted to
give some of the BCD™ love back to other ladies and help them achieve what
I have (I’m now a size 16 going down to a 14 and love my new shape). My
confidence lifted with every new routine so, I decided I wanted to try to
be an instructor. I asked Sarah what she thought, she was full of
encouragement so I enrolled on the instructor’s course for April 2018. It’s
been hard work and a roller coaster of emotions but with the help, support
and encouragement from BCD, my lovely instructor and not forgetting
the lovely super talented girls I dance with each week, I finally achieved
my dream. I am now a qualified Burlesque Chair Dance™ Instructor.
I can’t wait to open my own classes in Withernsea, the ladies here are
going to love it, so it onwards and upwards the WITHERNSEA WAGS are born.
Ladies of Withernsea and surrounding areas do you want to get fit, lose
weight and build confidence while having a giggle? Then why not come and
join our classes and see what fun it is?
Hope to see you all soon, Tallulah xx
