See you all there!
With a huge increase of interest and requests for Fire Performing from all our dancers and instructors, we’ve designed our own Burlesque Chair Dance ‘Fans & Fire Course’ to teach you all everything you need to know to perform safely with Fire.
Our aim is to create safe, confident, skilled Fire Performers for shows, events and those just wanting to learn a new hobby.
You can’t learn all the fire skills (body burning/fire eating/licking/breathing) safely within one class. Fire performing is a dangerous art and our lessons are broken down and taught safely and gradually over a period of 3 x 3 hour lessons within a secure, indoors environment. Fire Breathing is the most dangerous of these skills and this will be taught at lesson 3, after 6 hours of learning the basics over the first two classes.
Are we dancing?
Yes of course we are! We are a ‘dance’ company, so we’re combining these classes with learning a Fans & Fire routine! You may have seen the routine at this years Annual Shows & Miss Burlesque UK Competitions; ‘Rule The World’ by Lordes (Dracula soundtrack). Bella Diamond performed the routine herself and is excited to start teaching it to all our dancers from next month. With the course taking place over 3 lessons – one third of the routine will be taught at each class. All our dancers will have the opportunity to perform the routine LIVE in costume on Parkland’s stage, with our photographer to capture them in all their glory showcasing their new skills.
The Course: Lessons 1, 2 & 3
Learning the first section of the routine:
* Health & Safety
* Medical Questionnaires
* Ostrich Feather Fans
* Body Burning
Learning the second section of the routine (including a full recap of lesson 1):
* Fire Eating
* Fire Licking
* Advanced Body Burning
Learning the last section of the routine (including a full recap of lessons 1 & 2):
* Fire Breathing
* Full Routine
* Performing the routine on stage
* Risk Assessment Completion
Learning a new skill can be expensive, however we’ve decided to keep our prices reasonable and charge only £35 per each 3 hour class. The price includes the use of all props, fuels, fans, fire sticks and everything required to master your new skills during classes.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: Learning a new skill can be expensive, however we’ve decided to keep our prices reasonable and charge only £35 per each 3 hour class. The price includes the use of all props, fuels, fans, fire sticks and everything required to master your new skills during classes.
The beauty of these classes is that they are ‘pay as you go’, everyone booking is entitled to chose when to book on to each lesson and a range of dates for each lesson will be offered. You are not required to attend all 3 classes within any timescale, and simply pay at the point of booking. Making the course affordable and flexible around any lifestyle or commitments.
Over 18’s only
Q: Can someone with a health condition take part?
A: At the point of booking, dancers will complete a medical questionnaire. Any dancers with skin conditions or respiratory diseases (and pregnant ladies) may be asked to seek advise from their doctor before starting our course. We take the health of our dancers very seriously and our Fire Instructors are both First Aid qualified.
Q: Can my class book a lesson together?
A: Yes, but we can only take 10 people per class (including your Instructor). When we light up sticks we split into two groups and offer 1:2:1 then group supervised fire practice. Larger groups cannot be safely supervised.
Q: Can I chose just lesson 2 or 3?
A: No. Although we appreciate some of you may have already learnt these skills before, or are maybe looking to add Fire Eating or Breathing to your already existing skills – this course acts as a risk assessment to perform fire at BCD shows & events. Therefore lessons must be booked and attended in order 1, 2 & 3 and all participants must start at the beginning with lesson 1.
Retford and Worksop held there very first Burlesque-Athon on the 29th September!
We raised £2,104.75 for Versus Arthritis this was through sponsorship money and money raised on the day with our tombola and cake stall.
A lot of the ladies decided to take home the cakes for family and friends, as they burned over 3,000 calories during the 6 hours of back to back BCD®️ classes!
This is a charity that is very close to my heart. Me and the ladies of Retford and Worksop will be working very closely with this charity next year with plenty of exciting things planned!
Nottinghamshire is also hosting they’re very first showcase on Saturday 14th December at our Retford venue (The Elms Hotel) this is an event for the ladies who take part in classes every week to show their friends and families what they have been up to this year, and it’s also the chance for us all to get together for a great big Christmas knees up!
Hello ladies of Southport and surrounding areas I am Felicity Diamond a.k.a Stephanie the Southport Instructor.
Burlesque Chair Dance UK has had such an amazing impact on me mentally, emotionally and physically since having my twin daughters 10 months ago. Burlesque Chair Dance has even had a positive effect on my relationship with my Husband.
When I first started attending classes before I became an instructor, I was really shy. It was my husband who found the classes advertised on facebook, he knew I had always wanted to dance but never had the confidence. He told me I had to go to a class, I tried to make excuses for not going to the first class, but he lovingly kicked me out the door and off I went to Mimi Vin Rouges (Isle of wight Instructor) class.
Since having my twins 10 months ago I found becoming a mum really hard on my mental, physical and emotional well being. I felt like I lost my identity, that I was now just a mum, no longer a woman. I craved the old me, the woman who had friends, who danced for fun. I love being a mum more than anything and I would not change it for the world I just needed a bit of me time, away from 2 babies who just seemed to scream at me day and night. When I started back dancing, I felt so much happier and I even noticed a difference in my twins, it was as if they sensed I was less stressed and happier and they in turn became happier babies themselves. I felt like the old me again. I felt I became a better mum with having an hour sometimes even just half an hour of dancing to myself.
After having a c section dancing really helped my core muscles. Dancing has also helped rebuild my self confidence, so much so that I now embrace the stretch marks on my breasts from exclusively breastfeeding my twins which I still am 10 months in. I’ve embraced my mum tum with stretch marks and the cellulite on my bum and thighs that developed since having my daughters.
Every woman needs to practice self care and that is exactly what you get from Burlesque Chair Dance, you always leave class with a smile on your face, a spring in your step and feel like the sexy woman that you all are. I cannot wait to see you all at class. This class is for all you single ladies wanting to have fun, it’s for all of you busy mums who just want 5 minutes of peace and quiet to yourselves and for all of you ladies wanting to get fit, lose weight and build confidence.
You will find no judgement at these classes, just come and leave your worries at the door for an hour.
